Fall 2021- Day 5 & 6

Cappuccino. Croissant. Laundry. Churches. Dogs. Priests. Nuns. Tried liver pate for the first time and found something I hate more than Michael Buble. Monks. Vespers. Food. Met a lady from the Ukraine who is traveling to Firenze for an art competition starting 10/23, so we'll get to go see her there! Sleep.

Cappuccino. Croissant. Rain. Taxi strike. 30 minute walk to the train with luggage.

Arrivederci Roma, ciao Venezia!

Rude Milanese and even ruder Americans on the train. Thought there was going to be a throwdown. My money was on the chick from Milan. She was little, but she looked scrappy, like she'd go for the eyes when the American chick was going for the hair. Went on a scavenger hunt to get into our flat, felt like a Venetian escape room-- half expected someone to come out at the end with funny photo props and a timer.

Gorgeous view. Tried sardines for the first time. They're a good, solid 3rd to pate and Buble. Probably because they don't rhyme.

Someone tried to sneak pate into my aperitivo, but I'm not falling for that again. Helped a girl from Vienna order and communicate with the waiter who spoke no English, so basically now I'm a native.

Sunset gondola ride with 3 students from Boston. Almost fell into the lagoon getting out of it (fml). Pinot grigio in piazza San Marco with a musical accompaniment consisting of a pianist, a cellist, an accordion player, and a murderous violinist who will snap someday soon and we'll all hear tell of the massacre on St. Marc' s square. But damn can the man play...

Walked a winding, sometimes sketchy route to a tiny restaurant in someone's back yard that Rick Steves recommended and literally danced from the deliciousness. Holy cow that place was amazing.

Met two new friends, Giacomo e Giorgio (da Venezia), and closed the place down visiting with them. 30 minute walk back to our flat with a Limoncello pit stop on the way. Sleep.
