Fall 2021- Day 18&19

Ugh. Sick...

We both woke up with a head cold. Basically, we canceled all plans for both days and stayed home to rest. We did manage to have a couple of adventures though...

We figured out how to navigate getting meds from the pharmacy. I'm pretty sure it's a requirement for pharmacists here to speak English - thank God because my head was not in a place to hear Italian, translate it to Spanish, and then understand it in English, which is pretty much how I've been doing it thus far. Lol

We ordered food for delivery (very grateful for covid which made that a common thing here), and experienced an 'oh shit' moment when realizing that the delivery person can't get in the building without a key or being buzzed up, and we had no idea how to do that. hehe. Then the elevator was out so Frankie had to walk down 5 flights of stairs and then back up them with food and a head cold. *sigh*

On day 19, I was feeling better than Frankie, so I went to the pharmacy for some cough drops, etc., and popped into the grocery for some food. I grabbed some stuff to cook so we didn't have to figure out the whole delivery thing again. I also stopped in to a Cafe to grab a cappuccino (not my Cafe, one close to the pharmacy) and had a piece of apple cake since they didn't have Cornetto. I was talking to the girl who works there and told her we had gotten sick, that I was better but Frankie wasn't, so she sent me home with a piece of lemon cake for him.

Plugged in the TV for the first time since we arrived and the YouTube app on it automatically connected to Frankie's phone, so I'm pretty sure he's been sneaking away to Italy without telling anyone...

While channel surfing, I stumbled on frigging "Little House on the Prairie" and now I know I'm cursed because that God awful show follows me everywhere... They didn't even have the decency to dub over it with Italian, which may have lessened my desire to stick hot pokers in my eyes instead of watching it. Thankfully Frankie was alseep, because he loves that show so I probably would have had to watch it if he was awake.

I had to wake him up a few minutes later though, because a couple more channels up the dial had "Drop Dead Diva" playing. This one was dubbed over in Italian, and about 30 seconds in to me watching it the scene changed to one with our friend Lex Medlin in it! His Italian was perfect. Lol

Also, this is the first time we've ever been sick in the same house before, so navigating that was fun. Frankie learned that when I'm stuffed up, I snore, and I learned that Frankie takes a bath about every hour and a half or so until the sickness passes. I counted- he took 7 baths in 2 days. Each one lasted at least an hour. He is the cleanest sick person you'll ever meet. haha

When you and your love are sick in Italy, you make him heart-shaped ravioli with sautéed pine nuts and mushroom sauce for dinner to make him feel better.

Hopefully we'll feel better for day 20, as we've only got a few days left.
